World Sea Turtle Day

  World Sea Turtle Day is celebrated on June 16th.     This is  to highlight the importance of sea turtles in the marine biodiversity and saving the turtles from near extinction. The International Union for the conservation of nature (IUCN) has considered it as endangered species.  This day coincide with the birth day of   Dr.Archie Carr, the father of sea turtle biology.    Turtles have been in existence on planet earth for more than 100 million years . One of the few species that have  survived since  pre historic time period,  even before the time of  Dinosaurs. Turtles have a life span of above 100 years and meant to live longer than humans.   Only 1 out of 1000 sea turtle eggs survive to adulthood giving a very low chance of survival. Bison roaming in Hayden Valley in Yellowstone

Bisons|Yellowstone| 27th Sept 2020 . The below video captures a herd of bison’s gracing at Hayden Valley in Yellowstone. There were several hundred of them ranging from small calf’s to older adults in Hayden valley. The nearest bison was just 25 feet away from where I was recording the video. Visitors to the park are advised not to get too close to these massive animals as they can charge any moment. The recommended distance by the national park services is to maintain a distance of 23 meters as they are wild and unpredictable. Bisons can be aggressive when they are agitated. The bisons in the video continued eating the grass ignoring all the tourist awed at the sighting so many bisons at the valley. Bisons are prehistoric animals that was roaming freely in the Midwest when the Europeans discovered the Americas and is the largest land mammal found in North America.
