Free roaming Mule deer at Zion National Park enters the Zion Lodge premises in the evening and graze at the grass lawn in front of the lodge restaurant. The Mule deer is not afraid of the visitors and you can go up close to photograph them. however, the mothers are very protective of the calfs and resent when you come too close to the calfs. . The deer enters the spacious area in front of the Zion lodge in the evening in small groups and it is a sight not to miss by anyone visiting Zion National Park. You can sit at the benches around the small park and gaze at the scene for hours. The deer herd spend the night at the lawn of the lodge under the giant tree at the center.
